PTM Walking Floor System platform for waste sorting plant ver. 3

An example of this type of application of the PTM moving floor can be found at the Waste Management Plant S.A. in Bielsko-Biala. This is a plant for mechanical-biological processing of waste, which has the status of RIPOK, the so-called regional installation for municipal waste processing. It has a large sorting line capacity of 70,000 Mg/year. PTM Polska sp. z o.o. was one of the companies performing the modernization of this line in 2019, carrying out the construction of a buffer for the storage of separated waste. 

Thanks to the use of new technologies, it is possible to recover many types of material fractions, which makes it possible to reduce the post-processing waste deposited at the landfill to a level of about 30% of the total waste stream received at the plant. The use of a buffer with a moving floor has increased the efficiency of the baling line for foil recovered from municipal waste. The fully automatic buffer also reduced the need for systematic winnowing of foil accumulated on the sorting line.

In the sorting plant, the largest fraction in terms of annual turnover is PET bottles, the customer required maximum use of box space, the moving floor gives maximum possibilities, because the frame can be made to the size of the box.

Parameters of the Cargo Floor stationary system:

- Length approx: 10,580 mm

- Width approx: 2,360 mm

- Maximum floor load capacity 35 tons

- System height approx: 350 mm

The side wall enclosure made of steel structure and filled with wood allows for backfilling up to 3m high. Sensors signal readiness for :

• Move the goods towards the channel conveyor 1 min of operation and stop.

• Opening of the pneumatically operated flap and discharge onto the conveyor.

The project in spite of 1 WF line was the first in terms of full synchronization of operation with the whole plant on the basis of network and Siemens controllers, both conveyor and press can work with WF in AUTO or MANUAL system.

Automation

Automation meets the following requirements:

- control of two floors with the possibility of expansion to six;

- automatic opening of dump gates with limitation of opening height to 45st.

- floor speed up to 1.0 m/min (oil flow 50 l/min, pressure 220 bar),

- two types of floor operation mode:

- automatic momentary displacement (DROPPING) by 1m (activated automatically by the height sensor of the poured raw material; control can be set to AUTOMAT or MANUAL)

- manually activated mode of emptying (DISPOSING) the buffer (when activated, automatically

the dump gate opens automatically; control only MANUAL)

- simultaneous operation of one buffer in schemes:

  -unloading

  -momentary movement
